Albuquerque trip planning

30 Jun

There are so many places to visit in the Albuquerque and you have to plan your trip wisely whether you’re looking to find the places you can have the most fun, tastiest food, or best hotels. Albuquerque has a lot of unique attractions to offer its visitors. The regional food is unique, the locals are friendly, and there’s almost always a festival to attend so you will have no excuse to hide in your hotel the entire trip unless of course you made the trip for Bubonicon 42 the weekend of August 27-29, then it’s forgivable.

If you’re looking for fun in Albuquerque it’s just a matter of finding something to fit your mood or finding a little something to fit everyone you happen to be traveling with. Old Town has a good number of distractions so even if not everyone wants to see the same thing you can split up and everyone have a wonderful experience. Whether you want to see the cultural sites, rattlesnake museum , or just browse all the jewelry shops for that perfect piece of turquoise jewelry. You might as well spend the whole day exploring this district you won’t even have to walk far to find food.

Speaking of food, the cuisine native to this region is special. It is a unique blend of local Native American and Spanish dishes and if you like flavorful you won’t be let down. One of the most noticeable culinary occurrences is the chilies you can find them in EVERYTHING from topping pizzas at local pizzerias to ingredients in sushi. If you’re dining south western be sure to ask which salsa is spiciest because it varies from recipe to recipe and day to day, don’t feel afraid to ask for salsa on the side if you aren’t sure your taste buds can take it.

The Health Museum in Houston

28 Jun

In 2006, four years ago, Time magazine declared that you were the Person of the Year; pick up a copy of the magazine and you’ll see your own face reflected in a mirror; it’s terrific to win an accolade like that, but what have you done lately? When the media asks, one answer you might give is that you’ve become the subject of a permanent exhibit installed in Houston, Texas, in the Health Museum : You: The Exhibit.

Also known as the John P. McGovern Museum of Health & Medical Science, the Health Museum is a science learning center and an institution member of the Texas Medical Center . Its purpose is to promote interest in and respect for a healthier lifestyle, for fitness, and for good, physical and mental health. It does this through a variety of programs, including a hands-on walk through the human body, real organ dissections, mini-medical schools and mini-classes on science, school field trips, scout programs, and summer camps. Two of the main exhibits here are You: The Exhibit and the Amazing Body Pavilion.

You: The Exhibit, explores what journalists call the five w’s and an h — the who, what, where, when and how — about you. This experience will allow you to explore your physical self, your mental self, and your future self. Highlights in this gallery include a body scanner through which you may see your internal organs in real time; a mirror of heredity, in which you’re able to see how physical traits you have make you unique among thousands of others; a device that enables you to see what you might look like if you were a different gender or ethnicity; and an Age-O-Matic, where you can age yourself and see what you will look like in 30 years time, then also discover what you’ll look like if you smoke or overeat.

In the Amazing Body Pavilion, you’ll go on a walking tour of the human body. There are 61 interactive videos and audio kiosks in which you can ask questions about human anatomy and health. You’ll be able to walk inside an immense eyeball; there’s also a 27 1/2 foot intestine, and a 10-foot-tall walk-through brain.

All of this focus on the body should make you think about your health and how important it is to relax and reduce stress. If you’re vacationing, you’ve already taken a large step in stress-reduction; make sure you take an extra step by staying over night in one of many luxury Houston hotels . Here, you can truly relax in an individual room or a suite, and partake in fine dining at some of the best restaurants in the city. Tomorrow, you can figure out an exercise plan that will keep the reflection in Time magazine’s mirror the best it can look for the next time you’re chosen as Person of the Year.

Relocating With the Family

28 Jun

Anytime you have to relocate , be it for work or personal reasons, it can be a stressful process. This is even more true if you have a family and kids. The list of things to do and consider is sometimes twice as long as it would be for an individual. It’s easy to get caught up in the process and forget that the kids have questions and concerns as well. By keeping them involved and in the loop, the transition will be much smoother and enjoyable for everyone.

Finding a new place to live can be a challenge, particularly when you are unfamiliar with the area. Sometimes it can be to your advantage to rent a home from Transglobe Property Management until you become more familiar with the area and see what will be most convenient for your family. With questions ranging from school quality to work commutes to grocery store locations, buying may just be too overwhelming and renting from transglobe.com may be just the thing.

As if moving to a new community isn’t hard enough, getting involved can be even harder. However, it is a necessary step to help you and your kids make friends and begin to feel at home. As soon as possible sign up the kids up for sports teams and other community activities. It’s a great way to meet new people, make some friends, and start feeling more comfortable in their home.

The most important thing is that you make the move fun, like an exciting new adventure. Even though the stress may be getting you down, do your best to put on an excited face for the kids because if they see that you are looking forward to the move they will too. Use the opportunity to grow closer as a family as you explore and discover your new home together.

DCs Real Miss America

21 Jun

It’s fairly certain that the appeal of comic books will be around for a long time. As the artists become bolder, and the story lines more tightly connected, every generation invents the wheel, but with new spins every time.

It’s perhaps easier to understand the appeal of one particular comic book character after a generation has gone by. Superman comes to the surface during the Cold War, representing the optimism of the country, but also unveils some of its deepest fears. The small-time criminals are just as worthy of a fight as the ones trying to take over the world, and they seem to come from the same big vat of badness. Batman is a darker side of Superman, a little more mysterious, and certainly more cynical, representing the times as they started changing, and the ideas of good and evil became a little more blurry.

One character that’s been overlooked, and deserves another reading, is a teenager who had a social conscience. Her name was Miss America , and she was a lot like Superman, capable of flight and amazing acts of strength. She fought with Captain America and Bucky, and knew the Human Torch personally.

She got to be a superhero when she survived a lightning blast, and she lived to tell the tale, and fight crime in the golden age, when good and evil were very clear. But there are certain things about her that are more nuanced, and interesting for their nuance. She came to represent the role of women at the time, serving the war effort at home, but also playing a big role on all the same world stages that her male counterparts fought. She also had a son, Nukio, who was radioactive, and his emissions caused her death. But her death came at the moment that she was giving birth to twins.

It’s a kind of Romulus and Remus story for a nuclear age, and her story is inspiring, if a bit baffling as well. What if she had survived? And who are these twins? It’s worth pondering, while looking at the city from Washington USA luxury hotels , the same city where she was born into an imagination that deserves another opening.

Atlanta Theme Parks

17 Jun

Well there are a couple of theme parks to visit when you are in the Atlanta area. You may have to drive just a bit because most of them are out side of the downtown area but if you have a car full of kids, it will be worth it.

There are two different Six Flags parks with different themes. Six Flags over Georgia and Six Flags White Water. The Six Flags over Georgia has many cartoon themed rides featuring some crazy scary roller coasters. There are different themed cities like Bugs Bunny World, Peachtree Square, Cotton States Section, Gotham City, the British Sections and the USA Section. All filled with enough thrills to deplete you of any more adrenaline. Six Flags White Water is the best spot to be in the warm sticky summer days. Most of the rides are water based in some way. With lots of loops and tunnels to splash your way through. There is a giant wave pool, waterfalls, watery coves, rapids and tidal waves. Head over to the Pine Valley section of the park and be apart of a Tornado. At both parks families of all ages have a chance to play with the special little kids park. Careful, the family will get addicted.

Find out from the four star hotels atlanta has available when you make your reservation. They will have some information on what is happening in the area. For a different kind of thrill you may want to take the family over to Stone Mountain Park where they have created some very fun ways to enjoy the outdoors. There are plenty of beautiful hikes with 15 miles of trails around stone mountain. Plenty of fish to catch and a good afternoon game of golf to be had. Get a broad view of the area on the skyride and then relax with a lemonade while you stroll through the shops of the old mining town.

Las Vegas Bands: The Killers

15 Jun

With a pretty stunning number of NME Awards under their belts, along with the feather of proof from the BRIT Awards, it seems as though The Killers would be perfectly placed to win the Grammy. Why not? They’ve been nominated seven times, and are widely acknowledged as a group to contend with, and 15 million records sold worldwide might mean something. It’s not that popularity is any indicator of solid content, as the lessons of history continue to reveal, but there’s something here that’s kept us listening for a few years.

Hot Fuss was never the favorite for some of their more devoted fans, and although it laid the groundwork for some edgy moments, the moments were fleeting. That’s what hindsight says, anyway, and especially after the hindsight shows their next work in the rear view mirror. Sam’s Town was the one that made the world stop their pilates and take notice. It was recognized as enormously under-rated by an enormous number of people, which suggests only that maybe this was a bad year, and we were all too cheap to buy it, and made copies instead. This was dense work, though, and this is the stuff that was just hinted at when they were first trying to get signed. This is the level they were and are capable of, and it’s hard to know right now if this hiatus is going to lead to the dissolving, as these things often do.

If not, however, there are some interesting times ahead, because they’ve already shown that they know how to consider, reflect, and contemplate, and these things, like anything else, gets better with age and experience. It’s a long road from an old Nova to five star hotels. Vegas is strange about success, though, granting it only to the few who happen to know the right celebrity’s uncle, but. The Killers have escaped that, and found their way into the world through more honest means, drawing on the inspirations that were in the air when we were young.

Fences in Manhattan Nominated For Tony Awards and Recoups Finances

10 Jun

As much as Broadway and the New York theatre scene is about producing great theatrical stagings and bringing the best new musicals, comedies and dramas to the American and New York stage, it is also a business. And this is frequently the least attractive aspect of theatre for audiences and producers alike. However, the fact remains and essential aspect of the theatre scene and it’s impossible to ignore the financial aspects of any production. With this in mind, it is also extremely difficult to break even with a Broadway production, let alone the near impossibility of generating a profit. So, while the business aspect of Broadway is a necessary component of the industry, it is also true that passion is the driving force behind most of the productions and theatrical practitioners, which is the main reason it survives and continues to thrive through the decades and centuries.

Meanwhile, it is particularly thrilling, and also extremely impressive when a major production like the current revival of August Wilson’s Fences, recoups its investment. This is a status recently achieved by the current Tony Award nominated play. Revivals of plays is a hot topic on the Broadway stage as is the adaptation of Disney and other animated films. Fences is playing at the Cort Theatre and was directed by Kenny Leon. The revival production stars Denzel Washington and Viola Davis . It is scheduled to run through July 11, so there is still time for the guests in one of Manhattans best hotels to get tickets, but you better hurry, they go fast. And with all of the Tony Award nominations it has received it is likely to become sold out through the remainder of its run. Financially Fences has also been extremely successful and it has been recently reported that after only eight weeks of performances it has already recouped the two point eight million dollar capitalization investment. And that news is almost as good as winning a Tony.

Historic Old Town in Key West

08 Jun

Southern Florida has a lot of attractive cities and regions and while they all have certain elements in common they are also unique to themselves. Key West is one of the great cities in the southern portion of the state. In fact, it is the furthest south of all of the cities in Florida as well as the entire continental United States. Meanwhile, that’s an interesting piece of information, though it’s not the only aspect of Key West that stands out among the others. Many people prefer a stay in a luxury hotel Key West on an annual basis to many other vacation destinations. And while all of the beach and coastal areas of southern Florida attract large numbers of tourists, some of the great cultural landmarks and establishments are part of the reason people visit and return to Key West.

The Old Town Key West is just one of the great places to visit if you plan on vacationing in this city. It is located on the western part of the island and is the original establishment of this city. It is also known as the Key West Historical District and some of the main districts and attractions are Truman Annex, Fort Zachary Taylor and Mallory Square. Many of the buildings and various structures in Old Town date from the 19th century. The general date guidelines for their construction is approximately 1886 to 1912.

Duval Street is another famous strip and there are many contemporary shopping opportunities and restaurants and clubs along it. Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville, Sloppy Joe’s and Captain Tony’s Saloon are some of the standard places for tourists to visit, while Hard Rock Caf (c) Fogarty’s are other staples. For some people the city has become synonymous with the popular song of Jimmy Buffett. There are walking tours of this part of town and they offer insight information into the history and cultural that were part of the development of Key West.
